ISLAMABAD Gangs of swindlers deprived two persons of cash in two separate incidents occurred at the branches of the Standard Chartered Bank and UBL in the city, police said on Thursday. In the first incident, a two-member gang deprived a citizen of Rs 0.5 million at the Standard Chartered Bank, F/7, while cheating him and took away the money. The Kohsar Police Station said that Malik Riaz told police that two-member gang deprived him of cash 0.5 million at the Bank in sector F/7. He informed police that when he was about to leave the Banks counter after taking money, two people intercepted him and asked about a foreign currency exchange firm and all of the sudden they took away his cash. On this, police registered a case against unidentified people. Police said that they have obtained the video clips of the incident from the Bank and further investigations were underway. In second case that occurred at the UBL Melody outlet, where swindler deprived a student of cash Rs 80,000. On this, the student, Waqas Javid lodged his application with Aabpara Police Station. Police said that they have obtained video clip of the incident. To a query, the IO said that same group apparently was involved in both case, however, he said that further investigations were underway.
