On February 04, 2013 I was going to Malaysia on flight TG350 from Benazir Bhutto International Airport. I had my visit visa issued directly from Malaysian Embassy. When I reached the airport, after getting my boarding pass, the duty officer of immigration department stopped me and told me to go to a specific room and meet the official present there, when I reached the said person, he asked me for US $100. I refused and asked him why I had to pay?

After all, I had paid more than Rs 30,000 tax on my ticket; I had a valid computerized passport, genuine visa from the embassy and met all necessary requirements for travel. The most shocking thing about this whole incident was that these government employees wearing uniform had no fear in asking for a graft as they were sure that they were answerable to none.

After my denial to give them bribery, they asked me to return my boarding pass and also off loaded my luggage. They denied to give me any logical or official reason for their actions. I am sure I am not the only one who has gone through such a scandalous situation as on Benazir Bhutto International Airport, I saw almost 12 other passengers who were facing the same situation.

I will not be among those who ask the Prime Minister to take any action against them because I know no one will listen to him as well. Before this incident, I was in favour of this government but now I know that corruption has eaten up the morality of our ruling class. I am sure that these immigration officers are protected by high ups. This is a blatant insult to our Shaheed leader Benazair Bhutto and the airport has been named after her. My question is specifically to Interior Minister and DG Immigration to look into the matter if they are not a part of this scam.
