LONDON: Cate Blanchett considered retiring from acting before she got the call to star in Blue Jasmine. The actress’ part in Woody Allen’s latest movie has been well received by critics, with Cate already taking home the best actress Golden Globe and BAFTA. She is also in the running for the prize at the upcoming Oscars. However, things could have been very different as the 44-year-old star was actually considering stepping away from the big screen when she landed the part. “Actress years are frightfully short so I was pleasantly surprised to get Woody’s call, it was a gift,” Cate admitted to British newspaper The Sun.–BN
