CG for close cooperation between Pak-French entrepreneurs

KARACHI : Consul General (CG) of France in Karachi, Francois Dall’orso has suggested need for close cooperation between entrepreneurs in his country and Pakistan.
In a meeting with the Chairman, Sindh Board of Investment Dr Asif A Brohi, he said that French specialists can also provide technical expertise to local entrepreneurs.
Among wide range of fields, the French CG said locals can also be particularly updated in dairy installations. Francois Dall’orso also referred to varied exhibitions held in France and that are focussed on specialized sectors, said a press release.
During the meeting held at SBI office, the French CG acknowledged that Sindh holds tremendous investment potential and hoped that his country could extend all needed support in varied identified spheres.
He appreciated the initiatives taken by the provincial government for promotion of business and trade with specific reference to foreign investment.
SBI Chairman, Dr Asif A Brohi said the provincial government was keen to secure investment in agriculture, dairy, livestock, fisheries, education, agri-business value addition, aquaculture farming and so forth.
He said mutual cooperation with French counterparts could be equally beneficial for socio-economic upliftment projects meant for deprived sections.
Dr Brohi said the provincial government was keen to promote foreign investment and also expected French specialists from identified sectors to help the concerned stakeholders in not only increasing the quantum of production but also turning these of international quality.
He referred to continuous and serious measures adopted by the Sindh Board of Investment to promote investments in diversified sectors of alternate energy especially Thar coal, wind and solar.
Other than promoting investments in Thar coal, the SBI is working closely with private sector to examine interventions under solar energy, he said.
SBI Chairman said that serious efforts were being made across the country for containment of energy crisis through multiple measures.
He invited French investors to have their share in Karachi Education City, one of the mega projects of Sindh government.
He said that we are also looking for collaboration between French institutes and Agriculture University, Tando Jam in order to reach point of mutual understanding for better research and educational activities.
Member Board of Director, SBI Naheed Memon, said concerted efforts were being made to highlight the existing potential of the province and to attract foreign direct Investment.
SBI Director General, Muhammad Riazuddin proposed that French investors can invest in the versatile sector of fishery and participate in development of Korangi Fish Harbor.
