LAHORE - Condemning target killing of doctors, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has demanded the government arrest the culprits and put them under trial in military courts.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting of office bearers at PMA House on Wednesday, Punjab Chapter president Dr Mehar Muhammad Iqbal demanded from the government to give at least Rs5 million as compensation to the families of victims of target killing.

Dr Tanveer Anwar and Dr Rana Sohail were also present on the occasion.

Dr Mehar Iqbal said that some vested interests wanted to stop doctors from serving the ailing humanity by harassing the community through target killing and extortion.  He said that the government had failed to provide security to doctors at workplace. He said that the PMA Centre would convene a meeting in Karachi on March 1 to devise future strategy in the wake of increasing incidents of attacks on doctors.
