PTCL building on fire again

LAHORE - A huge fire broke out in the multi-storey building of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) exchange late Wednesday, rescue workers said.  
Six firefighting units are struggling to control the blaze, which erupted on the fourth floor of the building located on the Egerton Road at around 9:25pm. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.  A rescue worker said that more firefighting vehicles are called in since the fire was spreading speedily to other portions of the building. Rescue workers were trying to extinguish the fire till filing of this report.  In September, thousands of telephone lines and internet connections were disrupted after heavy fire erupted at the same building. Also, all help-lines including Rescue 1122, Rescue 15, Edhi Service and state call centers were down because of the fire, which caused losses worth millions of rupees.  Following Wednesday’s fire, heavy police contingents also reached the spot and cordoned off the area to provide smooth passage to the firefighting vehicles.
