LAHORE - A session of scholars from Deobandi and Brelvi schools of thought was held at Jamia Qudsia near College Road Township on Wednesday in which they condemned the terrorism activities in Pakistan and also expressed their concerns over what they said the victimizing of seminaries and scholars by law and order agencies especially after the Peshawar school incident.

“We condemn the terrorist attack on Peshawar army school and all other terrorist activities.

However, the law and order agenises have started ill-treating the prayer leaders, scholars at religious seminaries across the country after the incident which is unbearable,” it was said during a joint declaration issued after the session of Majlis-e-Ulma-e-Islam which was attended by JUI-S chief Maulana Samiul Haq, Ahl-e-Sunnat Waljamat chief Ahmed Ludhyanvi, Pakistan Shariat Council chief Fida-ur-Rehman Darkhawsti, JUP-Norani head Awais Norani, Tanzeem-e-Islami chief Hafiz Akif Saeed, Maulana Ataul Momin and others.

The session decided to hold meeting with the scholars of other school of thought to promote unity among Muslims and formulate a joint strategy against what is described as the illegal act of the law and order agencies against scholars and seminaries.

They also demanded from the Chief of Army Staff to unfold the hidden hands behind the terror activities in Pakistan. They believed that foreign hands were involved in terror activities across the country.

They also expressed their reservations over the 21st amendment in constitution in which they held that terrorism had been linked with religion.
