Contempt cases: SC grants Tallal one week to 'prepare case'

Supreme Court has granted State Minister Tallah Chaudhary a week to prepare the case. 

As hearing resumed, his lawyer Kamran Murtaza requested court to give him time as he got the case after death of Asma Jahangir. Chaudhary requested for 10 days. 

"This is third week of the case and you have not prepared the case," Justice Ejaz Afzal remarked. 

The court however granted him the time for the case. 

Earlier, Supreme Court resumed hearing of contempt cases against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Tallal Chaudhary and Daniyal Azizi today. 

Chaudhary reached the apex court today as he hired Kamran Murtaza as his lawyer. On last hearing he seek time to hire a legal counselor after death of Asma Jahangir who agreed to represent him. 

Murtaza was also legal representative of PML-N leader Nehal Hashmi who was disqualified for five years over contempt of the court. 

According to notice issued on February 2, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar took suo moto notice over ""derogatory and contemptuous speeches/statements" against judiciary by both PML-N leader.

Furthermore, on same day, the top court summoned Daniyal Aziz reportedly over several controversial statements he made during different TV talk shows and speeches.
