KU student found dead

KARACHI - A student of Karachi University belonging to Bajaur Agency found dead from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the city.

According to police, the deceased went missing on Saturday night and later his body was found from Metrovill Third area within the premises of Mobina Town police station.

After being informed, the police shifted the body to morgue after completion of medico legal formalities at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he was identified as 22-year-old Ahmed Shah by his friend, namely Ahsanullah on Sunday.

The victim’s friend told the media that deceased was a student of University of Karachi where he was studying in the zoology department in masters programme, adding that besides getting study, he also used to work to bear expenses of his study after varsity timings and returned to home late in the night. “We talked over the phone on Friday night at around 10:30 and since then he went on missing,” he said. “Upon his disappearance, we tried to find him and finally found him at the morgue.”

Deceased used to live in a rented house along with his at least five more friends belonging to his hometown.

The friends after finding him dead then informed the family about the incident. The family reached the Karachi and received his body to take it to the hometown for burial process.

Police said that no mark of bullet was found on the victim’s body, however, severe wound was found in his head. “No doubt that he was murdered and it seems that the victim was hit by an iron rod, police informed.

Police further said that the varsity student along with others had arrived from their hometown and they were getting studies and working here in Karachi, adding that deceased was found dead on the same street where he used to live in Karachi. He said that the motive behind an incident has yet to be ascertained, adding the police has called his friends to whom he used to live to record their statements while the police was also looking for their calling data records of the victim and his friends.

He said that a case has been registered on behalf of victim’s brother against unidentified persons while further investigation was underway.
