KARACHI - Police arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a step-daughter in the outskirt of the city, here on Sunday.

According to police, a case has registered against a suspect who identified as Sajid Panwar, a scrap dealer by profession during a raid at his residence in Qazzafi Town that falls in Shah Latif police Town police remits.

SHO Ghaffar Shah said that the accused was arrested on a complained registered by a woman to whom Panwar got second marriage about two years back. The officer said that she found her six-year-old daughter in an unconscious condition after she returned to home from a market, adding that the accused and victim were alone at a house when an incident occurred.

SHO Shah further said that the victim was immediately rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors kept her report reserved, adding that the police registered a rape case against the accused on the basis of victim’s mother statement and the circumstantial evidences which suggested that the minor was sexually assaulted.a
