HYDERABAD - Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi on Friday said that in last 15 years, the “Zardari Mafia” had ruined Sindh province economically.

Addressing a press conference at Insaf House in Latifabad, Ali Zaidi said that education, health and infrastructure in Sindh had been destroyed. He alleged that the Sindh government was involved in hoarding and theft of wheat and the provincial minister had said that millions of tonnes of wheat had been eaten by the rats. Ali Zaidi said IG Sindh had failed to maintain law and order in the province as he was not discharging his responsibilities as per his oath, adding that IG was working on the instructions issued from Bilawal house. He said he would raise the issue at next meeting of the federal cabinet and demand removal of Mushtaq Mehar as IG Sindh. He further said that wheat worth Rs. 19 billion had been lost in the province and according to NAB chairman Rs. 10 billion had so far been recovered from wheat thieves.

He told that stockpiling of wheat by the Sindh government every year was harming the national economy and the federal government was compelled to import wheat by spending dollars due to which inflation was on the rise. He said that the government of Sindh was being run through police terrorism and pressure from DC offices, they were occupying lands of the common men and the recent incident of Nawabshah was an example of it.

Ali Zaidi said that Ali Hassan Zardari had also tried to seize the lands of Federal Minister Fehmida Mirza in Badin which was foiled by Rangers and other federal organizations. Sindh Police has become a private army and IG Sindh is taking instructions from Bilawal House instead of maintaining law and order, Ali Zaidi expressed surprise. He lamented the fact that an SHO was martyred in Nawabshah but IG Sindh did not registe a case against the accused and waited for instructions from Bilawal House. He said that what Altaf Hussain used to do with Karachi by forming a private army, Zardari is using the police and doing it with the whole of Sindh. He said that the federal government was constructing drains, collecting garbage, launching K-4 and Karachi circular railway project and wanted to set up a university in Hyderabad but the Sindh government was obstructing it. In response to a question, Ali Zaidi dispelled impression of rifts with Haleem Adil Sheikh and confirmed that Sheikh had resigned from position of party office.

In reply to another question, Zaidi said Buddo and Bundle Islands were not the  property of Sindh Government as Port Qasim had leased these Islands to Pakistan Navy. Later, Ali Zaidi also addressed party’s workers convention.
