RAWALPINDI - Jammiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) Punjab would fully participate in the legal fraternity's long march on 9 March 2009 for the greater cause of restoration of superior judiciary including deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. JUP Punjab President Allama Muhammad Iqbal Azhari made this announcement while addressing a press conference at JUP Media Center on Benazir Road here on Sunday. On this occasion JUP Joint Secretary Hamid Raza Bhatti, Provincial Joint Secretary Zubair Kiyani, Deputy Secretary Information Noor-ul-Mustafa Noorani and many others were also present. JUP President Allama Muhammad Iqbal, while addressing, said that PPP-led government has totally failed in providing relief and security to the masses. He said that people were disappointed by the poor performance of the rulers. PPP-led government has distracted from the ideology of founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and slain former premier Benazir Bhutto. The rulers were also prolonging the erroneous policies of former dictator President General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf, which has plunged the country into severe crises, Allama added. JUP Punjab President said that rulers have traversed General (Retd) Musharraf in gaining the attention of White House. "The promises, made by PPP bigwigs, of release of Nuclear Scientist Dr Abdul Qadir Khan, restoration of deposed judges, freedom of apex courts as well as halting external intrusion could not be materialised so far" Muhammad Iqbal lamented.
