KARACHI Muhammad Younus Siddiqui, a well-known Pakistan international hockey umpire, has been nominated as technical officer at Dhaka South Asian Games hockey championship, according to a letter sent by the Bangladesh Hockey Federation. The SA Games will be held at the Bangladeshi capital January 29 to February 8. The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF), under whose banner the hockey competition will be held, has nominated Younus Siddiqui, who had the honour to supervise matches at 5th and 10th Champions Trophy in 1984 and 1988, the premier hockey competition of the FIH. He had also supervised in first and second Asia Cup in 1983 and 1985. Among a number of honours, that he had earned, were supervising hockey test matches against India, Australia, Germany, Holland, France, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan. The hockey test series between Pakistan and the visiting Asian XI in 1987 also appeared on his impressive CA as an international umpire. Younus Siddiqui, who was employed with the KPT, had also acted as a technical officer in a number of international, national and regional events held at home. He attended a number of hockey coaching clinics and acted as a judge in a number of national and local events in his four-decade long hockey career.
