A state of emergency shall be imposed in the government departments of Jhang district during the three-day polio drive starting on 20th, as per the district administration.

"A strict action will be taken against inefficient and negligent officers and staff. Assistant commissioners and heads of the district departments will monitor the work of Health Department during polio campaign. The target be achieved in every condition," said chairman of District Eradiation Polio Committee. DCO Raja Khuram Shezad Umer was presiding over a meeting arranged by the EDO (Health) to review the arrangements in this regard.

On the occasion, EDO Dr Hussain Ahmed Madni presented reports about the arrangements done by health department. He expressed that a target had been fixed to administer polio drops to 434,480 children less than five year of age. To achieve the goal, 998 teams have been appointed in the whole district which will go door to door to give polio drops, out of which 664 teams in Jhang tehsil, 189 in tehsil Shorkot and 145 teams will work in tehsil Ahmedpur Sial.

The DCO ordered the EDO to make active and effective monitoring and watching system and to run pre polio campaign effectively. He further ordered EDO Health to inform him about activity report at daily basis. He also directed education and revenue departments to assure announcements, poster pasting throughout the district. In Sialkot, more than 571,297 children under the age of five years, including 6,000 nomad kids, would be administered anti-polio vaccine, during the three-day campaign starting 20th.

Sialkot DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahu told newsmen that 1,032 teams would be conducting door-to-door visits. He added that 130 fixed teams at hospitals, BHUs and RHCs, 55 transit teams at bus stops, and eight roaming teams would be administrating drops to the children in the district's all the four Sialkot Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils. The DCO said that 126 special monitoring officers and 215 areas supervisors would monitor the campaign directly at union council level as the district administration had also established the control rooms at Tehsil level.
