Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial declared on Saturday that no nation could prosper without peace and peace was linked with justice. "It is justice that guarantees lasting peace which is a prerequisite to development and evolution in society.

Addressing the foundation stone-laying ceremony, the LHC Chief Justice congratulated the lawyers' community and said that the judiciary and bar were on the same page on the issue of provision of justice. He said that the rule of law was a must for national development, prosperity, peace and justice. The LHC CJ said that the lawyers had played a vital role in the restoration of judiciary in 2007 that resulted in the independence of the judiciary and strengthening of democracy.

He said that all the reservations about the rule of law in Pakistan had now ended due to positive and effective role of the lawyers' community and the judiciary. Justice Bandial stressed the need for strengthening national institutions by ensuring rule of law and bringing further betterment in the judicial system for dispensation of justice to the needy, oppressed and the poor in society.

He said the lawyers had to play their role to end intolerance and biases in society. He said the two ills could only be eliminated by accepting the supremacy of law.

While highlighting the importance of justice in society, the LHC CJ said that "We have to continue our journey of justice according to the Constitution. The High Court is providing every possible support for capacity building. It's the judge's duty to deliver fair justice in a manner that aggrieved party may get the relief," he added.

The LHC CJ stressed the district and sessions judges to decide cases with hard work and commitment. He quoted a few verses from the holy Quran, Hadiths of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) and also inspiring events from the rich Islamic history to illuminate and sensitise the judicial officers regarding their pivotal position and crucial role in the society.

He urged the lawyers to avoid strikes and protests so that the litigants could be provided justice timely. He pledged to resolve the problem of the Tehsil Bar Association.

Earlier, on his arrival at the judicial complex, a police party presented salute to the LHC CJ who later he laid the foundation stone of the complex and hoisted the flag.

On the occasion, some verses from the Holy Quran were recited by Qari Asdad Ullahd Khan Niazi to inaugurate the function while advocate Malik Abdul Qayoom Zafar Rahdari got the honour of reciting a Na'at.

Speaking on the occasion, TBA President Malik Naamat Ullah Gahi paid rich tribute and appreciated the efforts of the LHC CJ.

Justice Ch Shujaatur Rehman, Khushab District and Sessions Judge Irfan Siddiqui and others judges also attended the ceremony. Earlier, he visited the district courts in Khushab and directed the judges about provision of justice and disposal of all pending cases.
