PESHAWAR - Speakers at a seminar have urged upon the Federal government to ensure rightful share of terrorism-hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), stating ignoring attitude of the rulers will create a sense of deprivation among the people of the smaller federating units.

The seminar on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was organised by the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) headed by party senior Vice President Muazzam Butt Advocate, whereas party provincial President, Intikhab Chamkani and other office-bearers Amir Khalil, Maulana Shoaib, and women wing head Asifa Sarwar, and a large number of party workers and civil society members, lawyers, and students participated.

The participants were of the view that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was badly affected by terrorism.

They said it will be a great injustice with the KP if the government deprived it of its rightful share in the CPEC.

They said that the government should not discriminate with smaller provinces especially with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as it will cause a sense of deprivation and hatred against the Federation.

They urged the government to provide all basic facilities of life to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

They also demanded of the government to implement the original plan of CPEC route as agreed upon in the All Parties Conference (APC) held in Islamabad. Muazzam Butt asked the Federal and provincial governments to shun political scoring on the CPEC project and stressed the need for cooperation to extend benefits of it to all provinces on equitable basis.

Besides, PML-Q provincial leader Intikhab Chamkani while highlighting the objectives of the conference said that ignoring Pakhtun belt in the CPEC route would be a share injustice with the terrorism-affected region.

He also said that KP and FATA are the most affected parts of the country in the ongoing war against terrorism, as education, health facilities were badly shattered in the region.

He also said that there is a dire need to rebuild the damaged infrastructure and revive economic and business activities in the province to generate maximum employment opportunities.

He said that terrorism-affected provinces should not be pushed towards the wall and the government must give their rightful share in the CPEC project.

Chamkani also asked the provincial government to identify projects in hydel power generation, gas exploration and acquire lands for establishment of economic zones in the province.

The provincial government, he said, should not mere criticise the Centre rather take solid steps to implement the projects under the CPEC in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that PML-Q will extend every possible support for attainment of due share and rights under the economic route.

Amir Khan Khalil termed the CPEC project as game changer that will bring economic prosperity and development in the region.

He asked the government not to politicise it like Kalabagh Dam and stressed to ensure due share to all provinces.
