The week-long visit of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to Britain and Turkey finally ended with a note of optimism as both Britain and Turkey signed many memorandum of understandings with Pakistan for increasing cooperation in numerous sectors. Besides luring investment in the province, the meeting of the Chief Minister with important British leaders and head of different departments aimed at promoting cooperation in the field of education, health, skill development and other important sectors. Moreover, the address of the CM to an international forum arranged by UK-Pakistan Energy and Infrastructure Forum highlighted the increasing importance of Pakistan in the world community. It is pertinent to mention here that the appreciation and praise by the representatives of Department for International Development for monitoring the performance of field and other staff in health and other sectors highlights that the world community also acknowledges the efforts made by the Punjab Government. The assurance by the CM that the culture of tolerance and patience is promoting in the country is no doubt commendable as it will help the foreigners to invest in the country. Hence, I think, from the point of view of socio-economic development of the country, the tour was significant as it would help increase investment in the country. It is hoped that the tour would prove fruitful for Pakistan and increasing cooperation would not only enhance the bilateral relations between the countries but also pave the way for the socio-economic development of the country.
