PR LAHORE - The 143rd birth anniversary of legendary journalist, poet and Pakistan Movement leader Maulana Zafar Ali Khan is being celebrated across through the country today.

Maulana was born on January 18, 1873 at Kotmarth near Wazirabad. Special functions and cakes cutting ceremonies will be held in different part of the country and abroad. Maulana’s mazar at Karamabad and Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Trust office at Lahore are being is being profusely illuminated.

At his tomb, prominent government officials will pay their respects by placing floral wreath and offering fateha khwani. Radio Pakistan has made special arrangements to broadcast special program. GCU Faisalabad has arranged a special sitting which will be chaired by Professor Muhammad Asif Awan, Dean Urdu Department.

In Lahore Nazaria Pakistan Foundation has arranged special function followed by cake cutting ceremony.

Celebration will also take place outside the country. Pak American Democratic Forum (PADF) is going to organise a function at San Francisco, today (Monday) which will presided by renowned Pakistan intellectual Agha Khalid Saeed.

Tribute will be paid to Maulana Zafar Ali Khan by leading local expatriate speakers followed b cake cutting. A large number of Pakistanis poets, journalists and literary figures are expected to participate in the aforesaid gathering.
