Islamabad - Islamabad police should ensure best coordination among all its wings to effectively combat crime and achieve success against criminal elements.

It was stated by Inspector General of Police Khalid Khan Khattak while reviewing the security and crime-combating strategy in a meeting held here at Central Police office yesterday. The meeting was attended among others by AIG (Establishment) Muhammad Suleman, SSP (Security) Mir Vais Niaz, SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani, SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob Ahmed and all SPs. Khattak said that all wings of Islamabad police including anti-car lifting cell, special investigation unit and all police stations should have effective coordination among themselves. Such coordination will guarantee to combat criminal elements effectively, he maintained. The IGP Islamabad stressed to adopt polite attitude with public and focus on resolving their complaints. He also asked to ensure registration of cases on merit and win the support of people through performance.

The IGP directed to take elaborate measures for making Islamabad more secure and to conduct search and combing operations on regular basis following National Action Plan. He said that extra vigilance should be maintained at entry and exit points of the city and movement of suspects to be monitored. He also asked to accelerate efforts against professional alms-seekers and initiate crackdown against proclaimed offenders, court absconders and those involved in crimes of heinous nature. The conciliatory committees should be made more functional so that problems of people can be addressed on immediate basis. He said that registration of cases should be ensured purely on merit and investigation of registered cases should be ensured on fast-track basis following the judicial policy.

He also ordered for better utilization of available resources and asked all officials to inspect the vehicles and motorbikes regularly. He also ordered for stern action against those involved in street crime, dacoities, snatching valuables and auto-theft cases.

The IGP also ordered for improvement in response time in case of any mishap and said that patrolling system should be improved and criminals to be nabbed through adopting effective strategy.
