ISLAMABAD - Islamabad, Hyderabad, Port Qasim and UBL on Monday earned victories in the National One Day Cricket Cup being played here at different venues of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Islamabad beat Peshawar by 35 runs here at the Diamond Club Ground. Islamabad Region scored 219 in 47 overs. Sarmad Bhatti 36, Hassan Ali 34 not out, Zohaib Ahmed 26, Shahid Yousaf 27, M Naeem 23 played well. For Peshawar Taj Wali 2 for 36, Musaddiq Ahmed 2 for 37, Jibran Khan 2 for 40 and Ishfaq Ahmed 2 for 46 took wickets. In reply, Peshawar Region made 184 runs. Jamal-ud-Din 45 not out, Akbar Badshah 23, Gohar Ali 22, Ishfaq Ahmed 20 batted well. For Islamabad, Shehzad Azam bagged 4 wickets for 55 runs.

Hyderabad beat Lahore Region Blues by 15 runs here at the National Ground. Hyderabad Region scored 246 runs in 49.4 overs. Kashif Bhatti 72, Muhammad Saddam 34, Azeem Ghumman 26, Muhammad Awais 24 and Asif Mahmood 20 batted well. For Lahore, Hafiz Suleman 3 for 36, Raza Ali Dar 3 for 40 and Agha Salman 2 for 25 took wickets.

In reply, Lahore Region Blues scored 231 runs in 49.1 overs. Raza Ali Dar 73 not out, Agha Salman 57, Tayyab Tahir 20, Farhan Khan 20 batted well. For Hyderabad, Usman Khan Shinwari 4 for 46, Kashif Bhatti 3 for 33 and Nasir Awais 2 for 33 grabbed wickets.

Port Qasim beat SSGC by 76 runs here at the Marghazar Ground. Port Qasim scored 309 runs in 45 overs. Kamran Younas 77, Daniyal Ahsan 69, Faraz Ali 47, Muhammad Salman 38, Muhammad Sami 26, Khalid Latif 21 played well. For SSGC, Sohail Khan 5 for 70 and Tabish Khan 2 for 49 took wickets.

In reply, SSGC scored 233 runs in 37 overs. Awais Zia 86, Wajid Ali 36, Sohail Khan 32, Tabish Khan 20 not out batted well. For Port Qasim, Zohaib Shera 4 for 41 and Muhammad Talha 3 for 43 grabbed wickets.

UBL beat SNGPL by 6 wickets at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi. SNGPL scored 228 runs in 47.5 overs. Abubakar Khan 65, Imran Butt 47, Imran Khalid 21, Adnan Akmal 20 batted well. In reply, UBL achieved the target in 45.4 overs losing 4 wickets. Shan Masood 78, Younis Khan 64 not out, Sharjeel Khan 56 batted well. For SNGPL, Taimoor Sultan 1 for 6 and Atif Jabbar 1 for 26 took wickets.

ZAIN, TANVIR BOWL PINDI TO WIN IN ONE-DAY CUP: Pace duo of Zain-ul-Abideen and Sohail Tanvir shared seven wickets between them to bowl Rawalpindi to their first win in National One-Day Cup Cricket Tournament when they beat Lahore Whites by 33 runs here at the National Stadium on Monday.

Rawalpindi, which lost their opening four league games, finally put up a better show to chalk out their first win. Right arm pacer Zain finished with an excellent figures of four wickets for 60 runs in ten overs and left arm Sohail claimed three wickets for 38 runs in nine overs as Lahore Whites was bowled out for 227 at the start of 49th over while chasing 261 for victory.

Consistent Usman Salahuddin top-scored with 69 off 88 balls with just three boundaries while Jahanzaib Abdullah struck half a dozen boundaries in his 52 off 53 balls. Earlier, inserted to bat first, Rawalpindi posted 260 for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs. Usman Saeed scored 68 in 72 balls with the aid of three fours and brace of sixes.
