Army chief ratifies death sentences of 10 convicts

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa ratified on Friday the death and life imprisonment sentences of 13 men convicted by military courts of involvement in acts of terrorism.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the convicts were members of banned organisations and possessed illegal arms and explosives. They had confessed to their offences before the magistrate and trial court.

Samiur Rahman, son of Gul Habib, and Azeem Khan, son of Shaiber, were sentenced to death for their involvement in attacking the armed forces personnel which resulted in the deaths of Major Muhammad Ihsan and 11 others.

Arshad Bilal, son of Khadim Khan, and Anwar Ali, son of Fazal Ghaffar, were sentenced to death for their involvement in attacking the armed forces personnel which resulted in the deaths of nine soldiers and injuries to nine others. They were also involved in destruction of Government Boys Primary School, Langer, Swat.

Muhammad Aleem, son of Abdull Rasheed, and Fazal Aleem, son of Abdul Rasheed, were sentenced to death for their involvement in attacking the armed forces personnel which resulted in the deaths of four soldiers. They were also involved in destruction of Government Boys High School, Nangolai, Swat.

Rasool Muhammad, son of Ahmed Jan, was sentenced to death for his involvement in attacking the armed forces personnel which resulted in the deaths of four soldiers. He was also involved in the murders of civilian Said Raheem, Assistant Sub Inspector Irshad Ali, Head Constable Sarwar Ali Khan and Head Constable Sher Ahmed of police.

Sohail Ahmed, son of Usman Ali, was sentenced to death for his involvement in the killings of three civilians, Sub Inspector Mustafa Khan, and a police constable.

Naimat Ullah, son of Ahmed, was sentenced to death, for his involvement in attacking the armed forces personnel which resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to four others.

Rahmat Ali, son of Noor Said, was sentenced to death for his involvement in attacking the armed forces personnel which resulted in the death of a soldier.
