GUJRAT - World’s most popular social networking website Facebook has set up a developers circle at Hafiz Hayat Campus of the University of Gujrat (UoG).
The developers circle, fifth in Pakistan, was inaugurated by Alicia Tan, Facebook Developers head in Asia, at a ceremony organised by the CM e-Rozgaar Centre at the UoG.
The circle was aimed at providing the youth with an online platform where they can discover, sharpen and promote their potential self-business or entrepreneurial skills. The young entrepreneurs will be able to build and strengthen relations with the world online community through reciprocal exchange of resources and services for the mutual benefit.
Director Student Services Centre (SSC) and focal person of CM e-Rozgaar Centre at the UoG Muhammad Yaqoob, BIC expert Haider Meraj, site manager PITB Waleed Ahmad, Facebook Lead Developers Circle Waqqas Ali Azhar, and Manager e-Rozgaar Centre Ali Murtaza were the guests of honour.
Alicia Tan said the developers circle will provide the students with an opportunity to unveil their innovative ideas and products in the online market.
Yaqoob highlighted UoG role to promote self-business skills among the students.
He said the Facebook developers circle will help the youth a great deal to explore more profitable avenues for their innovative projects and contribute to the national economic development.
Haider Miraj said that the circle would go a long way in bringing down the unemployment rate in the country. “The University of Gujrat has been promoting entrepreneurship among the students so that they could excel in their chosen areas,” he said.
Waleed Ahmad, Waqqas Ali and Ali Murtaza also spoke on the occasion. They hoped the circle would help the youth explore more profitable career opportunities by enhancing and applying their innovative skills through the Facebook developers circle.
