Renowned journalist, columnist , poet and writer Munnu Bhai passed away in Lahore this morning .

Munnu Bhai whose real name was Muneer Ahmed Qureshi was under treatment in a hospital at Lahore.

His Namaz-e-Janaza was offered at Riwaz Garden ground after Asr prayers.

PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira, several prominent personalities, friends and a large number of people from different walks of life attended the funeral.

He was awarded Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 2007 for his services to the nation.

President Mamnoon Hussain has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of renowned journalist, columnist, poet and writer Munnu Bhai.

He prayed for the departed soul and commiserated with the bereaved family. The President said that his services in the field of literature and journalism will always be remembered.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of National Assembly and Prime Minister's Adviser on National History and Heritage Irfan Siddiqui have also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Munnu Bhai.
