Seven held, weapons recovered

ISLAMABAD - Capital Police have arrested seven accused, including one proclaimed offender, involved in robberies, illicit weapons and drug peddling, and recovered a tampered vehicle, arms, 1.50 kilogram hashish, one liquor bottle and 15 tin packs of wine. The arrested proclaimed offender, Iftikhar Ahmad, was involved in a murder case in the jurisdiction of Tanda Police Station, Gujrat district. Police official told TheNation that he (offender) was working as a driver with Nasir Hussain and the police party intercepted their vehicle on the prior information of an informer at G-10 Markz Double Road. On the interrogation it was revealed that both accused were involved in keeping a bogus registration book of the said vehicle No IDN-4788. When the police contacted Excise and Taxation office, it was informed that the said number was allotted to a motorcycle. A case had been registered with Shalimar Police Station against the accused under section 216/468/471/419/420/34 PPC. Meanwhile, Shezad Town Police have arrested two accused namely Muhammad Shabaz and Tabraiz Hussain during a raid on an informer and recovered two, 30 bore pistols and 11 rounds while their three accomplices escaped. The accused were planning to commit a robbery. Similarly, police arrested twp accused Bashrat and Sheraz Hussain and recovered one bottle of liquor and 15 tin pack wine from them. Tarnol Police have also recovered a tampered vehicle No H-2488 Peshwer (land Cruiser) from accused Imran Khan while Sihala police arrested an accused Muhammad Naveed and recovered 30 bore pistol along with 54 rounds. Koral police also recovered 1.50 kg hashish from accused Jahingir Khan. Captain (Retd) Ahmad Latif, SSP, has appreciated the performance of police officials and directed them to further improve their performance.
