A Chinese military fighter-bomber crashed on Sunday in northeast China as the nation's armed forces prepared for joint exercises with Russia, the official Xinhua news agency said. The aircraft with two crew went down at a training base in Jilin province where some of the drills will take place, the brief report said, adding that it was not immediately known whether the crew escaped. The dispatch did not identify the type of aircraft. It said military authorities were investigating the cause of the accident. The five days of exercises, dubbed Peace Mission 2009, were set to start on July 22 and focus on anti-terrorism.
