The audacious manner in which our government is killing its own citizens in NWFP and, thus, provoking extremism is heart-rending. Pakistan has already suffered a loss of more than 35 billion dollars during this war against so-called Taliban. Had this amount been spent on education, health or any other productive sector, our condition would have been very different today. There is a dire need to put an end to the operation in NWFP that has exhausted our economy and turned our respectable citizens into beggars. Please accept the advice of anti-US voices on this national issue. That is the only option left to stop the civil war. -SHOAIB IQBAL RAO, Lahore, July1.
