KARACHI - MQMs Rabita Committee on Sunday condemned the target killings of the MQMs workers and demanded to check the increasing Talibanisation in the metropolis as soon as possible. The criminals, land-grab mafia, drug mafia, terrorists and supporters of Taliban are involved in the target killings of MQMs workers, Raza Haroon, a member of the MQM Rabita Committee said at a press conference at Khursheed Memorial Hall. Answering a question, he said, target killings of the MQMs supporters and workers was a deep-rooted conspiracy against the democracy and elected government. Being a minister in the provincial cabinet, he asked the government to order a judicial inquiry about the target killings, adding that the killer mafia should be unmasked at once. Mohammad Faisal Younus, 35, worker of MQM PIB Colony Sector Unit 57 was ambushed on Saturday morning, he said adding that he was to drop his minor son but the killers surrounded him and threw his son away before firing upon him. Raza Haroon said that 31 workers of the MQM had been killed during last 7 months and among them 19 were targeted since June to date. He further said that MQM always condemned the murder of innocent citizens, adding that it was shameful that our workers were being gunned down and party itself was being blamed for that. MQM knows that target killings were a plot aimed at devastating the peace and tranquillity of the metropolis, he said. He cited that some journalists, analysts and columnists were trying to protect the killers by false propaganda against the MQM, adding that they wanted to divert attention of the people from that secret hand that was involved in these heinous crimes. This is the same secret hand that had orchestrated sectarian riots and Muhajir-Pukhtoon riots to derail the democracy and oust the elected government, he claimed. Raza Haroon said that the elements that dislike MQMs principled position against the Taliban and extremism were involved in the conspiracies to disturb peace in Karachi. He said that MQM would continue to condemn the terrorism and extremism and support army. He warned that target killings of the MQMs members could badly affect the anti-Taliban operation. He further said MQM is against the extremism and demand that increasing Talibanisation in Karachi should be checked as early as possible.
