OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Sheraz Kayani on Monday dismissing an application seeking addition of Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 to the FIR registered against DSP Riasat Bajwa and three other policemen for staging a fake encounter, adjourned hearing of the case till July 23. The judge also directed the authorities concern to provide case record to accused party inclusive one DSP Riasat Bajwa for framing of charges against the accused, who allegedly staged a fake encounter at Rohi Nala site and shot dead one Shahbaz Butt. Application was filed by Jahangir Butt, father of Shahbaz Butt. The complainant contended that his son was killed brutally by police officials who were bound to proceed as per the law after arresting his son but they carried out his extrajudicial murder. He implored the court to add ATA section to the FIR and handover the case to the Anti-Terrorism Court. The jail officials on Monday produced DSP Riasat Bajwa, sub Inspector Muhammad Riaz and constables Muhammad Asif and Abdul Qadir before the court. Upon which the judge asked the DSP Riasat Bajwa whether the trial should be conducted in ATC or by this sessions court but the DSP remained silent. The judge then repeated his question to other accused police officials who showed their will that the trial should be conducted by the sessions court. The Judge once again asked the DSP whether he was ready or not for the trial proceedings to be conducted by this court, on which the DSP responded that: Sir you know well. After that the court adjourned the hearing of the case till July 23.
