Johnny Depp to sell French estate

LOS ANGELES-Johnny Depp has doubled the asking price on his French estate. The 53-year-old actor wants £42 million for the compound, which is set on 37 acres of land and boasts more than a dozen buildings. Johnny - who is in a bitter legal battle with estranged wife Amber Heard - first put it up for sale last year, with an asking price of around £20 million but took it off the market a few months later. Now it’s back on for twice as much and it is being sold fully furnished with DVDs still on the bookshelves. As well as all the buildings, it comes with two swimming pools, a gym, a skate park, a restaurant with a professional kitchen, a launderette and a garage. A church on the site has been converted into a guest house with the confession box converted into a wardrobe. Alexander Kraft, chairman of Sotheby’s International Realty France, who previously listed the property, said: ‘’Johnny had decided to sell the Plan de la Tour property to close this chapter of his life and move on. ‘’He hopes that someone else will enjoy the property as much as he did and bring him or her the same happiness it brought.’’ The news comes just days after it was revealed he is selling his Venetian mansion for £9 million. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star put the seven-bedroom palace on the market five years after purchasing the plush property which overlooks Venice’s Grand Canal.

According to the Italian newspaper Affari Italiani, the ‘Black Mass’ actor’s decision to offload the picturesque pad is connected to his ongoing divorce from the 30-year-old actress.

Amber has been granted a temporary restraining order against Johnny after claiming in court that her decision to file for divorce from him was prompted by the actor physically attacking her with an iPhone, leaving her with a bruised eye.

She alleged that ‘’during the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me’’.

The pair - who met on the set of 2011 film ‘The Rum Diary’ and were married for just 15 months - are not thought to have had a pre-nuptial agreement.
