MUZAFFARABAD/BAGH - PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Monday said democracy was at danger not from military but from ‘monarchy’ of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“Pakistani people are more democratic than Turkish people. The prime minister should not be in the state of illusion that he will be left without giving account of his offshore assets,” he said while addressing a public meeting at Muzaffarabad held in connection with AJK elections.
“We will come out on streets to protect democracy from monarchy,” he said, adding that it was unfortunate that rulers of our country start fulfilling their personal wishes after coming into power.
“Inflation and unemployment is on the rise in the country in Nawaz government,” Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief said.
Imran said Pakistani people had thanked Pervez Musharraf when he took over through military coup in 1999. They had even distributed sweets.
Addressing another public meeting in Bagh, PTI chief said that Pakistan was moving towards destruction due to corruption at the top level. He said accountability must start from the PM if corruption is to be eliminated.
PTI chief said an independent Ehtesab cell will be established in Azad Kashmir and accountability will start from Barrister Sultan Mehmood who will be made prime minister if PTI wins elections.
He also announced to establish local government system in Azad Kashmir. He said decisions about the fate of Bagh should be taken in Bagh and not in Muzaffarabad.
He said he would offer himself for accountability if and when elected prime minister of the country as that would set the right precedence. He said due to corruption, there is no medical facility in hospitals and people were not getting justice.
Imran Khan asked the people to rise above family and friendship and vote for the sincere people. He said the parties already tried in Azad Kashmir should not be given another chance.
He said during general elections campaign in Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif had committed to make Asif Ali Zardari accountable for his money in Swiss banks but no action has been taken against him. He said how a thief can hold another thief accountable.
The PTI chairman said the party has allocated Rs46 billion for local government representatives which is 30 percent of the development budget in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said the MPs and bureaucracy is not ready to surrender their powers but he assured that 40,000 local government representatives in KP would be given due powers for development of their areas.
