PHC & BHC get additional judges

ISLAMABAD - The Judicial Commission of Pakistan on Monday recommended appointment of two additional judges in Peshawar High Court and three additional judges for Balochistan High Court.

The meeting of Judicial Commission was held here in the Supreme Court with Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali in the chair.

During the meeting, the appointment of five additional judges in Peshawar High Court and four in the Balochistan High Court came under discussion. It was learnt however, that the meeting recommended the names of Ibrahim Khan and Ishtiaq Ibrahim for appointment as Additional Judges in Peshawar High Court while names of Abdullah Baloch, Zaheer Uddin Kakar and Syed Anwar Aftab were recommended for their appointment as Additional Judges in Balochistan High Court. The meeting was also attended by four senior judges of the apex court, attorney general and the representative of Pakistan Bar Council.

The Judicial Commission was constituted under the 18th Amendment in the Constitution.

The commission recommendation will now be sent to the Parliamentary Committee on Judges’ appointment for approval.

The Parliamentary Committee has the authority to approve or disapprove the names of judges.
