MULTAN-The district police are likely to quiz cleric Mufti Abdul Qawi and some others in Qandeel Baloch murder case, sources said.

They added that the CPO Azhar Akram had directed the interrogation team to expand the gamut of investigation and Mufti might be questioned once forensic report was received.

The killer of Ms Baloch namely Waseem, who is her real brother, is already in police custody and a local magistrate remanded him in police custody for three days. He had fled after killing his sister and was arrested from Dera Ghazi Khan. Police recovered the phone of the assassinated model from the killer and its forensic examination was underway.

The social media celebrity, whose real name is Fauzia Azeem, was murdered by her brother three days back. The killer told police in initial interrogation that he got infuriated on her selfies with Mufti Abdul Qawi and a music video which led to her murder.

Talking to media, Mufti Abdul Qawi said that he had nothing to do with the murder of Qandeel Baloch. “She is assassinated by her real brother and it is their domestic issue. Police should consider this point before interrogating me,” he said. He added that his life was like an open book and he would fully cooperate with police, if contacted.

Meanwhile, the police have added non compundable section (311 ppc) to the FIR of Qandeel’s murder case. The media had raised concerns that Muhammad Azeem, the father of Qandeel, who is also party in slain model’s murder case, might pardon his son. However, Azeem rejected any likewise possibility. Talking to journalists after the burial of his daughter in Dera Ghazi Khan he said that he would fully pursue the case to get the killer punished. He said that Qandeel was his son and not his daughter as she financially supported entire family including the killer.
