LAHORE - A PPP leader has said his party workers will act on the pattern of Turkey, if any attempt is made for a military takeover in Pakistan.

“The PPP workers will follow in the foot step of Turkish people and will sacrifice their lives to save democracy,” PPP’s former information secretary Faisal Mir said while addressing the workers on the occasion of 31st death anniversary of Shahnawaz Bhutto yesterday.

In his address, Faisal Mir said that Shahnawaz Bhutto was a visionary leader who dedicated his life for the sake of poor. He resolved that the PPP always stood against military dictators in Pakistan. He further stated that the PPP workers will follow the footstep of Turkish people and sacrifice their lives in case of military intervention.

Criticising Imran Khan's recent statement in which he said that people will distribute sweets if army seizes power in Pakistan, Mir said that being head of Pakistan Army, General Raheel Sharif should take a serious notice of Imran Khan's statement which is clearly encouraging the Army for a coup.

He further declared Imran Khan ‘fit for treason charges’, and demanded that an immediate action should be taken against him to discourage any such adventure by any group within army. “Unlike all the confused leaders in Pakistan, Bilawal Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is clear on his ideology and agenda of always supporting democracy,” he added.

Arbab calls on Wattoo: Former Sindh chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Raheem met senior PPP leader Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo yesterday.

Former minister Saeed Akbar Khan Nowani also joined the meeting which discussed the current political situation in the country, Panama issue and other matters of mutual interest.
