GUJRANWALA-PML-Q leader Ch Pervez Elahi said termed as true the statement of PTI chairman Imran Khan that the Pakistanis would welcome the army if it makes an attempts of coup.

He added that there was no comparison between the leadership of Pakistan and Turkish. He said that present government is hoodwinking the nation regarding the provision f education and health facilities for the poor. He added that the present government has nothing to do with the people’s welfare as the daily wagers are committing suicide.

Talking to the media after inauguration ceremony of a private college at Wazirabad, Ch Pervez Elahi further said, “We had started mega projects like Rescue 1122, Wazirabad Cardiology Centre and reopened hundreds of government schools during our govt in Punjab. We established new schools, upgraded educational institutions and provided maximum possible facilities and incentives for the teachers and students. But unfortunately CM Shahbaz Sharif is closing down the running schools in the province which caused low literacy rate.”

Meanwhile, union council chairman along with hundreds of citizens staged a protest against Wasa in front of commissioner office Gujranwala. Chairman union council 11 Rana Tariq alleged that the Wasa managing director is busy to granting tenders of development schemes against the merit due to which recently installed sewerage system of Madina Colony, Bhekopur, Link Sui Gas Road and adjoining areas have totally failed to flush out the rainwater and all streets and roads were filled with water which caused inconvenience to the citizens.

He alleged that contractor with the collusion of MD Wasa had used low quality material in these sewerage schemes which caused great loss to the government exchequer. The protesters burnt tyres, blocked the road and chanted slogan against MD and other officers of Wasa and demanded an inquiry about the matter and early action against guilty officers and contractors.

On the other side, TMA Khiali Shahpur Town has started a crackdown on illegal buildings and demolished four buildings located at Shaheen Abad. These buildings were built without approval and against the rules and by laws. The team has also got registered cases against fiver persons including Abbas, Abu Zar, Ahmed, Mian Naveed etc for resistance.

ARREST: An anti-corruption team held a school clerk red handed for taking bribe at Wazirabad. A citizen Azamt gave an application to the anti-corruption authorities that Jamilur Rehman, a clerk of Government Girls High School Wazirabad, is demanding Rs10,000 as bribe from his brother Sadiq, a watchman of the school, for clearing his salary dues.

On the application, circle officer Amir Mehmood Sandhu along with magistrate Khalid Mirza conducted a raid and held Jamilur Rehman red handed.
