SC orders NAB to file new reference

 Corruption in Sindh police

KARACHI - The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file a new reference regarding corruption in the Sindh police department.

A Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Mushir Alam conducted hearing on the matter pertaining alleged embezzlement of funds in the Sindh police here at the Karachi Registry, wherein the NAB law officer informed the court about the progress made into the matter, the NAB officials have submitted inquiry report regarding the corruption in the Sindh police and informed the court that the inquiry has been completed and the reference was sent to the Chairman NAB for the approval.

The court expressed its satisfaction on the report and disposed of the matter with the direction to file the news reference in the accountability court once it is readied.  The bench has issued order after the NAB has informed that a new reference would be readied within 15 days. 

NAB prosecutor submitted that a new reference is being prepared against 16 accused including former Inspector General of Police and assured the court that new reference would be filed within  NAB within 15 days. NAB prosecutor also appraised the court about the 16 accused, which would be nominated in the new reference.  The accused to be nominated in the reference including former IGP Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali former AIG legal Tanveer Ahemd Tahir, former AIG Finance Fida Husain Shah and others.

, ex AIG Logistic Kamaran Shahid, former AIG Faisal Bashir Memon, former AIG Syed Mahdat Hussain Kazmi, Assistant Finance Ali Asghar Kalhoro, sub engineer works Rizwan Hussain.

Besides, Muhammad Qaisar Hayat, Attiqur Rahman, Mohammad Shafiq, Syed, Naeem Shah, Syed Shafqat Hussain, Makhdoom Syed Faiz Mustafa Lashari, Syed Babar Ali and Tanveer Ahmed will also be nominated in the reference.
