This poem is being submitted on Fathers Day which was first celebrated in Spokane, Washington on June, 19, 1910. In 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Fathers Day to be held on the third Sunday of June. I have written the following poem in the memory of my father Master Muhammad Hussain (1937-2008). Each and every moment of our life Speaks of our fathers sacrifice For us, everything he withstood From our birth to our adulthood He guided us at each and every stage Took care of us till we were of age Our mother passed away in youth Then the eldest son, I was eleven Of thirty days was the youngest one Including my father, we were all seven. God gave him patience and fortitude To shoulder a task of great magnitude He took responsibility of a sole parent In that moment of trial and great torment His widower life was full of worry and fret But he protected us from all problems he met. The love and care he rendered us Few lines are unable to express Last year he left us for his heavenly home Divine blessings may ever be on his dome (Amen)-SALEEM ULLAH JUNDRAN, Mandi Baha ud Din, June 18.
