KARACHI - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Friday said that the country can not survive until it is purge of rampant corruption. Addressing a press conference here at Karachi, Imran said the nation must aware of the elements striving to protect and promote corruption. He termed the PML-N equally responsible for pushing the country towards destruction, adding that it was unfortunate that all parties in power were giving priority to their personal interests. The PTI chief criticized the PML-N and said that on one hand, it was claiming to be opposing corruption while on the other hand, it was extending support to the corrupt elements. Imran said the big-wigs of all major political parties had meetings to save their vested interests and welfare of the poor masses had never been their agenda. He strongly condemned the target-killings incidents in the metropolis and underlined the need for depoliticize the Police to protect the life of common man. The cricketer-turned politician said that the government has failed to protect the life of common people from the terrorists, adding that crime ratio had increased by 33 percent in the present government. He warned the government that people who committed suicide due to poverty will stand against the rulers soon. PPI adds:- The recent spree of target-killings in Sindh and Balochistan is a deep conspiracy against Pakistan, while only judiciary could save democracy in Pakistan, said Chairman Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan here on Friday. Addressing a crowded press conference, he criticized the clause in 18th amendment about judicial appointments and termed them against democracy. He said that the battle for survival of democracy in Pakistan has entered its final phase. He said the verdict of apex court in the case regarding 18th amendment would decide the future of democracy in Pakistan. Imran Khan said if judicial appointments are made with the consultation of Chief Justice of Pakistan rather than through parliament body, it would strengthen the democratic culture in country. He said PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif is a friendly opposition in the centre. He said this party is concerned with its owns interests. Even Maulana Fazlur Rehman had shown a firmer opposition in past as compared to farce of present PML-N opposition. He charged the PML-N is supporting military operation in FATA to toe the US agenda, and to hide their own corruption. Imran Khan said that incumbent government has burdened the poor Pakistanis with more taxes including Value Added and General Sales Tax instead of imposing taxes on the elite and privileged classes. Inflation, poverty and sky-rocketing price hike could be curtailed if the present rulers cut down their princely luxurious expenses. Imran Khan alleged: Present rulers have not declared their full assets. He said the fact is that they have amassed massive assets worth trillions of rupees. Many treasury benchers have their assets in foreign countries including secret bank accounts, he said, demanding that undeclared assets of assembly members should be seized. Why these leaders have their assets in foreign countries while they are doing politics in Pakistan, Khan questioned. The PTI chairman said that country is heading towards a big chaos, adding if corruption and theft of tax by upper class people could not be checked it would pave the way for a radical revolution. Tax system should be remade keeping in mind real income of people. Levy of Rs.32 per liter tax on oil is a glaring injustice in Pakistan, as it affect both poor and rich similarly. He said the rulers had made Pakistan a bankrupted country which now survives on the foreign loans.Imran Khan condemned target-killings in Sindh and Balochistan and termed it a conspiracy against Pakistan.
