LAHORE - A mentally retarded man allegedly gunned down his mother and sister-in-law, and injured another woman over a family dispute at Ehsan Street adjacent to Morra Shareef after Friday prayers in Sherakot police precincts, locals and police said. The deceased women were later identified as Rasoolan Bibi and her daughter-in-law Yasmeen Bibi while the condition of the injured woman was also stated critical at Jinnah Hospital. Rasoolan Bibi was sitting in a room of her three-storey building along with her two daughters-in-law including Yasmeen Bibi, mother of two minor girls, and Asima, mother of one, when an accused alleged to be Shada, elder son of Rasoolan Bibi, entered the home and opened fire on the women. Police investigators said two women - Rasoolan and Yasmeen - who were shot at their heads died on the spot. Asima also received a bullet in her head but she was timely rushed to Jinnah Hospital where her condition was still critical, a police investigator said. The children present on the crime scene are small and too sacred to speak about the incident, he added. Ishtiaq Ahmad, elder brother of Yasmeen and a businessman by profession in Rawalpindi, said they married Yasmeen with one Abdul Razaq, a technician in Pakistan Air Force in Karachi, some five years back and she had two kids from the said wedlock. He said Asima belonged to Sialkot and was married with Ilyas, a Saudi national and younger brother of Shada. Muneer, another son of Rasoolan and resident of Sargodha, phoned my younger brother Ashfaq at about 2:30 pm and informed him about the incident. Ashfaq told me about the incident and later contacted Muneer, who told he was in Rawalpindi at that time, he added. Ishtiaq further said Rasoolan often quarrelled with Yasmeen over lack of dowry items and provoked Shahda, who repeatedly thrashed her. Naseem Bibi, mother of Yasmeen, however, said her other married daughter Rehana, resident of Model Town, visited her home last night and informed about the bitter condition of Yasmeen to her in-laws. Rasoolan once told me that Shada has numerously threatened her mother over many issues. Rasoolan wanted to purchase a separate plot for Shahda as he wished to live separately, she added. Naseem, however, said Shada intended to kill Yasmeen and wanted to marry his own sister-in-law with Abdul Razzaq but Rasoolan was reluctant in supporting such views, which caused this incident. Yasmeen never complained against Rasoolan or any other person of her in-laws. She, however, informed her brothers about the attitude of Shada who often beat her over petty issues, Naseem further said. A neighbour requesting anonymity said they heard the voice of firings but no noise was observed from the victim home. Police investigators say the investigations are underway. They, however, said it seemed a blind murder as none of the tangible evidences was collected from the crime scene. A police source, however, disclosed that police personnel had arrested a suspected man outside the home. Meanwhile, Edhi ambulances shifted the bodies to Mayo Hospital Dead House for their autopsies. Later, police concerned handed over the bodies to their heirs after medico-legal formalities. No case was registered till filing of this report.
