Promotion of healthy activities stressed

HAFIZABAD -District Police Officer Rana Shahid Pervez has underlined the need for the promotion of extra-curricular activities particularly traditional games for mental and physical growth of the youth as well to save them from the menace of drugs addiction. Speaking at a function arranged by senior journalists in honour of Usman Majid of Sheikhupura, who recently the won title of Rustam-i-Pakistan. The DPO said that all out efforts should be made to promote healthy activities in the educational institutions, towns and cities or better atmosphere, which could only be achieved from saving the youth from leading astray. He particularly referred to the traditional games such as wrestling and Kabaddi which must be promoted as it is part and parcel of Punjabi Culture. Former MPA Haji Muhammad Nawaz Juggianwalay also addressed the gathering and assured his cooperation to the wrestlers viz provision of 'Akhara (Arena) etc. 'We are proud of Usman, he said. Prominent journalists who attended the function included senior journalist Rana Yousaf Waheed, Abdul Hameed Rehmani, Hafiz Abdul Aziz Bashir Ahmad Rehmani, Anjum Sohail, Abdul Jabbar Raza Ansari Founder Anjuman Nowjawanan-i-Hafizabad, Muhammad Usman, Muhammad Yousaf, Ranjha, Azeem Yazdani General Secretary Press Club Sheikhupura, Abdul Majeed father of Rustam-i-Pakistan. All the participants of the function congratulated Usman Majeed for winning the title of 'Rustam-i-Pakistan. Later, the DPO and Haji Muhammad Nawaz presented trophy to Usman Majeed. On the occasion, Usman Majeed thanked for arranging reception in his honour. He urged the journalist community to play their vital role for the promotion of wrestling in the province. He said that he is proceeding to Australia within a week and determined to win the bout there also.
