Pakistan Kissan Committee Central President Fateh Muhammad said that feudalism is the root cause of the exploitation and oppression of the poor strata of the society.He also said that the people should get united at the grassroots level to fight feudal lords. He was addressing on the inaugural ceremony of a five-year project started here by South Asia Partnership Pakistan to resolve the local people’s issues. He praised the project and pledged his full cooperation with SAP. A Lahore-based officer of SAP, Irfan Mufti, said the project “Voice and Accountability” has launched and it would be run with the cooperation of four other NGOs including Aurat Foundation, Sungi Development Foundation, Sustainable Development Policy Institute and Strengthening Participatory Organisation. In his inauguration speech, Irfan said that the project had also been started in 44 other districts of Punjab and Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa provinces. He added that projects were strengthening the fragile democratic system and making it stable and more affective.The projects in 5,000 villages of 45 districts of both Punjab and KPK provinces will help the citizens get organised at the village, union council and district levels. He said, specially, the health and educational issues will be brought into the notice of heads of departments concerned through public forums while elected representatives will also be asked to give proper attention to the unresolved issues of their constituencies. Those also addressed the participants included GM Ganjhera Rana Khalid Mehmood, Haleem Ahmad, Sadaqat Sardar, Shahbaz Sarwar, Rafia Ashfaq, Ihsan Sadaqat, Simon Khurshid, Amer Ghumman, Asif Nadeem and Safia Haq.
