Punjab budget to increase unemployment, says Elahi

LAHORE - PML-Q senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi has said that withdrawal of property tax exemption for five marla houses in Punjab granted during his tenure as Punjab CM, is an oppressive step.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Ch Pervaiz Elahi termed the budget as highly disappointing ,adding, that the life of the common man had been made difficult and the budget would further increase unemployment in the province which had already increased during the last five years due to the flop schemes of the Punjab government.
He said that the salaries and pensions of the government employees should have essentially been increased by 15 per cent whereas pensions of the widows of the martyred of Punjab Police and other provincial departments should have been specially increased.
He said minimum wages should also have been fixed at Rs 15,000. He said that allocation of Rs 40 million for Wazirabad Cardiology Hospital had also exposed Punjab govt’s bad intentions because now this hospital could not be made functional with this amount whereas during last five years this project of public welfare was ignored only because it was established during his tenure. He termed a big joke of allocation of just Rs seven billion for the farmers of the province. He questioned that how energy crisis could be combated with a meager allocation of Rs 20 billion.
He said that even after ruling the province for five years, the present rulers have presented a deficit budget which had again reflected contradiction in statements and actions of those who had destroyed Punjab for last five years.
