Shiraz sings ‘Raanjhanaa’ for AR Rahman


Lahore - PR - Shiraz Uppal, renowned Singer/Music Composer, teams up with India’s Music Maestro and Oscar Winner A R Rahman once again for the title song of the upcoming Bollywood film “Raanjhanaa” starring Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol. The movie is directed by Aanand Rai and the lyrics of the songs have been penned down by Irshad Kamil.
In October 2012, A R Rahman and Shiraz Uppal performed together in One World Peace Concert in New York. The other artists to perform in this event were Dave Mathews, Natasha Bedingfiled, Nelly Furtado, Cyndi Lauper, Phillip Phillips and Whoopie Goldberg.
Shiraz Uppal started his Bollywood journey back in 2007 when he composed and sang “Roya Re” for Pooja Bhatt’s “Dhoka” and it went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year. Besides four of his music albums released in Pakistan, “Ankahi” was the first to release in India in 2009. The song “Rabba” from this album was selected for the movie “Aashayein” starring John Abraham and Sonal Sehgal. Shiraz Uppal won the Indian Mirchi Music Award 2010 for “The Best Upcoming Music Director” for this song.
Raanjhanaa is releasing on 21st of June and Shiraz Uppal is leaving for India to join the premier of this film. He also has to discuss some other projects with Indian Directors who have already contacted him. RP
