ISLAMABAD-  Pakistan’s FO asked Afghanistan to take notice of anti state activities emanating from its soil by Maulvi Fazl ullah, has demanded that Afghanistan should not to allow its territory to be used against Pakistan and both the countries by working together can bring an end to terrorism.
At her weekly news briefing in Islamabad today, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said that Prime minister and Army Chief were in contact with the Afghan authorities through different channels for improving border security and Afghan authorities have assured us of full support.
Rejecting that drone attacks are being carried out in the tribal areas with Pakistan's consent Aslam said it is completely misleading and wrong to attach these strikes with the ongoing operation in North Waziristan. She said Islamabad has always condoned and condemned these attacks. The government has taken a number of steps to create international public opinion against these strikes, which are in violation of international laws.
In this regard, a resolution sponsored by Pakistan was also passed by the Human Rights Council. She said Pakistan has also taken up this issue with the United States. When asked about contacts made with the Afghan authorities to beef up security at the border to stop movement of terrorists, the spokesperson said Afghan officials have assured their full cooperation in this regard. She said there is a need for better border management and parallel steps on the other side so that no terrorist could escape into Afghanistan.
On the visit of Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz to Russia, Tasnim Aslam noted that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia had seen a positive trajectory in recent years. Sartaj Aziz is visiting Russia to attend a conference. Besides, he will meet his Russian counterpart and discuss bilateral relations and how to give more impetus to the relations. When asked about the wellbeing of Pakistanis in Iraq, the spokesperson said most of the Pakistanis are not in the area where situation is alarming.
On the issue of number of Pakistani prisoners in China, the spokesperson said 281 Pakistani prisoners are in prisons in China. Of them, 90 per cent face charges of drug and narcotics smuggling and illegal trade.
