People took to the streets as the duration of loadshedding has increased to more than 20 hours a day due to which they have been facing severe problems.
Loadshedding duration could not be decreased thus businesses have paralysed, ice has become extinct due to extremely hot weather and loadshedding.
Owing to the hot weather, the people are captive in their homes. Duration of loadshedding in Rahim Yar Khan’s adjoining areas have reached to 18 hours a day. Social and political persons have demanded that the government should take practical steps to decrease the hours of unannounced loadshedding.
In Khanpur, mercury was recorded 48 centigrade along with long hours of unannounced loadshedding which has made the lives of people very difficult. In Rukanpur and its surrounding areas are also facing the similar situation where loadshedding of more than 20 hours a day is conducted.
In Kot Chatta Bhatta, loadshedding of 22 hours have been conducted on which people came on roads and blocked the Indus Highway and burnt tyres in protest. They kept the road blocked for more than 3 hours for traffic and kept protesting against the government.
In Bahawalpur people attacked Mepco Office and beat up the officials. They also resorted to aerial firing, Police registered the case. In frustration of loadshedding around 22, the people lead by retired sub inspector Salaamat and Sohail Ahmad attacked the office in Model Town A by breaking through the gate of the office.
They beat up the staff present in the office named Zaheed Ahmad, Ahmad Hassan, Muhammad Tayyab, and others. Meanwhile, a lineman suffered a head injury with the handle of a pistol.
BAZAARS, FAIR SHOPS: During the Ramazan, 13 bazaars and 105 fair price shops will be established for the provision of quality products at fair prices in Bahawalpur district.
District Coordination Officer Imran Sikandar Baloch expressed these thoughts during a meeting held at his office. He told the officials concerned that according to the directions of the government, the fair shops and bazaar need to become functional one week before the start of Ramazan. He added that TMOs ensure improvement in sanitation arrangements.
