Education does not only entail studying books, but gaining knowledge. Education means opening new horizons, gaining information in many fields as well as self-recognition. Most students in our country just want to get degrees and get good grades, with no one is interested in why we should be studying or what good it will bring us in the long run.
Most people in Pakistan are literate but not educated! Educating oneself is as important as gaining a degree. Listening is more important than talking, and most students have strong beliefs about different subjects but no knowledge to back it. Our society and education systems do not promote research or experimenting. Our students need to improve their reading habits and study a variety of books. The Cambridge board has a list of ‘must read’ books in their course outline. Some schools do have libraries and educated teachers, who promote reading.
