ISLAMABAD -Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Pervaiz Rasheed said that all the political forces must be united as the North Waziristan operation is the war of security of the country.

Talking to journalists in Islamabad today, he said this is not the time of street politics because such actions provide strategic support to the terrorists. He said terrorism is not an issue of Pakistan only but of the entire region, so all countries will have to work together to tackle this challenge. Only then militants would be eliminated from the face of the earth.

The Information Minister said that all the IDPs from the North Waziristan Agency who had left their homes for the country were the guests of the entire nation, and it was the duty of every citizen to help and accommodate them in every possible manner. He said the IDPs would be provided with smart cards at their homes and camps which will facilitate them to draw cash, food, health and vaccine facilities to them.

He said that the Prime Minister had specially convened a high level meeting to ponder over the ongoing operation "Zarb-e-Azb" which specially focused on the arrangement to facilitate IDPs coming from the disturbed areas. He said the people of NWA are our brethren and they are sacrificing for a great

cause of the country. He said that the Prime Minister has tasked federal minister Abdul Qadir Baloch to monitor the facilities being provided to the IDPs who today visited Bannu and Peshawar in this regard.

He said all the arrangements have been finalized to facilitate the IDPs and they have been issued with cash amount and makeshift hospitals and vaccines are available to them.

To a question, he said Pakistan is in contact with Afghan government in the wake of the ongoing operation at the diplomatic level. Responding a question about the drone attacks in the restive area, he said these have been initiated after a long pause and targeted few people, he said Pakistan has a principle stance on the drone issue and the world is aware of our stance.

Replying to a question about Model Town episode, he said it was a sad incident which has sent all of us in a state of grief; we equally share the loss of the affected families. He said Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab have said that all those who were behind this tragic incident would not escape from the clutches of the law. He said a single man commission is investigating into the incident which will soon bring forward its report. To another question about the infamous Gullo Butt who appeared on the scene during the bloody Model Town incident, Rasheed said he has been arrested. What he has done was condemnable and what happened to him was equally deplorable.

Yet to another question, he said PAT leader Dr Tahirul Qadri is a Pakistani national and if he wanted to return to his motherland, he can. The government has not imposed ban in this regard, he added. However he clarified that those who are providing strategic support to the terrorists through violence and vandalism, they will not be given free hand.
