LAHORE: DCO Muhammad Usman Thursday visited Ramazan Bazaar Model Town Link Road and checked quantity and quality of essential commodities.

During his visit he also checked stalls of different essential items and showed his satisfaction on arrangements. He also warned in-charge bazaar to ensure availability of quality fruits and vegetables in the bazaar.

The DCO claimed better arrangements in all Ramazan Bazaars of the provincial capital and a large number of consumers were seen buying essential items from all the Ramazan bazaars there was no shortage of any thing in bazaars and all items like ghee, oil, floor and sugar were available in abundance. He further claimed that City District Government Lahore will show this sort of spirit till last day of holy month of Ramazan.

Meanwhile, Price Control Magistrates conducted 770 raids in open and important markets of the city to check the prices of essential commodities. On violation and overcharging, 60 shopkeepers were arrested. Price Control Magistrates pronounced sentences on the spot and out of total 26 shopkeepers were sent directly to jail while 34 shopkeepers were sent to the lock up of concerned police stations. A fine of Rs88,800 was also imposed on shopkeepers on violation.–Staff Reporter
