Islamabad: Inspector-General Islamabad Police Tahir Alam has terminated a police official, for misusing authority and taking bribes from a citizen.
Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Talat Mehmood of Golra Police Station was found guilty of corruption and misusing authority by an inquiry, which was constituted on the complaint of Mohammad Tufail, who said that the police official illegally kept his brother and two cousins in custody. He had released them after taking bribe.
The complainant said that Mehmood not only tortured his relatives, but also took Rs45,000 as bribe for releasing them.
An inquiry was ordered to determine the allegations filed against the police officer, and the allegations were proved during the inquiry. On the basis of the inquiry report, the IG Islamabad issued dismissal orders of Mehmood.
