ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former president Pervez Musharraf in the Ghazi Abdul Rasheed murder case.

The court ordered that Musharraf be produced before the court on July 24 at any cost.

Acting District and Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti announced the judgement which was reserved during the last hearing after both sides completed arguments.

Counsel for Musharraf had argued that his client should be exempted from personal appearance on medical grounds, evoking a sharp opposition from the counsel for Shuhada Counsel, who said that if Musharraf had medical complications, how did he appear on TV shows and deliver speeches at different forums.

If Musharraf fails to make it to the court during the next hearing, action may be taken against his guarantors and his surety bonds may be confiscated.
