Interior Minister takes notice of Dr Asim’s video leak

ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan yesterday took notice of a video leak of PPP leader Dr Asim Hussain levelling allegations of corruption against his own party leadership.

Dr Asim Hussain gave the video statement while in the custody of a law enforcement agency and the same is being released to media in episodes by unknown sources.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Interior says that the minister while taking notice of the video Leak said that the airing of video statements of under investigation accused was not only illegal but also immoral. “The ministry is writing to the Sindh government to probe that which investigation agency was involved in the release of this video while Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority is being separately written asking to devise a procedure and code of conduct to stop airing of such videos,” the statement said.

The courts decide the cases not the same is done through media trial, the interior minister said adding that such unnecessary video leaks only weaken the cases instead of making them stronger.

Earlier, the minister has taken notice of a video statement of one of the accused in Dr Imran Farooq murder case recorded from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi and directed to launch an inquiry.
